Share your story
Whether you’ve discovered a favorite hiking trail, photographed a spectacular sunset, uncovered a piece of local history, met an inspiring maker, enjoyed a memorable meal, or simply experienced something worth sharing, we invite you to submit it for consideration.
We welcome submissions including:
- Local stories and personal experiences
- Hidden gems and favorite places
- Historic discoveries and local lore
- Outdoor adventures and scenic destinations
- Community events and traditions
- Restaurant, winery, brewery, and café experiences
- Profiles of local artists, makers, businesses, and nonprofits
- Seasonal photography
- Tips for exploring the Sierra Foothills

What to send
- Stories may be up to 800 words — generally 300–500 words is ideal.
- Please include your full name, hometown, and email address.
- Whenever possible, include original photographs that help tell your story.
- Images should be high resolution (at least 1 MB when possible).
- You may submit content that has not previously been published elsewhere, or clearly indicate where it has appeared.
- We carefully review every submission, but due to the number we receive, we may not be able to respond personally or provide feedback.
- Submitting your work does not guarantee publication.
Editing
To maintain a consistent editorial voice, Sierra Foothills Insider reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity, grammar, length, style, formatting, headlines, and search optimization while preserving the intent of your story.
Minor edits may be made without additional approval. If substantial editorial changes are necessary, we may contact you before publication.
Compensation
Community submissions are considered voluntary contributions and are submitted without expectation of payment unless otherwise agreed to in writing before publication.
At our discretion, we may recognize contributors by name, provide a contributor profile, or feature links to personal websites or social media accounts when appropriate.
Rights & permission
By submitting content—including stories, photographs, videos, or other materials—you represent that:
- You are the creator of the material or have permission from the copyright owner to submit it.
- Your submission does not infringe upon the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other legal rights of any person or organization.
- Any identifiable individuals shown in submitted photographs have granted permission for publication when required.
By submitting your material, you grant Sierra Foothills Insider a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to edit, publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, and promote your submission in connection with Sierra Foothills Insider and its affiliated publications, websites, newsletters, social media channels, podcasts, videos, and future promotional materials.
You retain ownership of your original work and are free to publish it elsewhere unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Attribution
When your submission is published, we may include your name, hometown, business name, website, or social media account unless you request otherwise.
Eligibility
Contributors must be at least 18 years of age or have a parent or legal guardian submit the material on their behalf.

We may contact you if we have questions about your submission or if we’d like additional information. Because our editorial team is small, we may not be able to acknowledge receipt of every submission or provide updates regarding publication status.
